This lampshade will be the easiest one you have ever made, but it also has great detailing and presentation.
For this project you will need a
- wire lampshade, stripped of all fabric. If the binding is left on the wire, half of your work is already done....
- the ruffle from an old petticoat or even a new bridal underskirt will work.
- ribbons, roses, trims of choice.
- needle and thread
If the wire frame is not wrapped with fabric, use bias tape, small strips of fabric, or ribbon and wrap around the frame securing with a needle and thread when needed to hold securely in place.
Measure the height of the frame from top to bottom and cut your ruffle from your petticoat or underskirt to fit the dimension of your piece. At the top, slip stitch the ruffle onto the fabric wrapped frame, folding it over as you go. When the ends meet, lightly stitch the two pieces together from top to bottom making one solid piece.
Choose your ribbon, bows, or flowers to embellish your lampshade and sew into place.......and
Viola'......you're done
If you want a lining, simply use the lining under the petticoat.
