Just Playin' Around......

I've never been one to "make" jewelry.
I admire those that do as I know the patience it takes working with such small things.
However, last week a customer was in the Shoppe and came back into my studio to watch me work. She was so excited about having just come from the Wild Bead located in Arlington.
She was raving about Resin Ice and all you could do with it, and she peaked my curiosity. I visited the Wild Bead the following week, and although they don't carry resin products, they directed me to a place which does....their customer service was excellent BTW and I recommend anyone interested in jewelry making visit this store.
(It is almost 6,000 square feet of decadence and anything and everything you need to make jewelry....they even have tons of classes!)
So using my left over watch parts, cases, and a little bit of Resin Ice, I made this first necklace. The pendant is simply the casing from an old pocket watch which then has an antique mother of pearl heart embedded inside.
I like all things old, so instead of a newer chain I simply used a vintage necklace....
I don't think you can see them, but there are tiny pearls woven throughout the gold chain.I really like the way it turned out, even though I muddled my way through learning how to use the product and impatiently waited hours for it to cure.
When worn, it drops to a very flattering position chest.

There are
also the altered denim skirts. It seems the white antique lace ones sell best, so I have an assembly line going using old damaged wedding gowns.....
Still, it hurts when that first cut is made, but I love the fact they are being re purposed.
Both of these items are available in my website.
Back to the sewing machine....I hear it calling my name :)
