What do you think it means?

What do you think it means when you start purging....

Not just things you don't need that are tucked in drawers and closets....

But things you have held dear for years.....

Feeling no remorse for letting them go...

Ten years of Victoria......
all on Ebay for the taking.....
Hoping someone will love them as much as I once did...

Not knowing what to make of how I'm able to simply let go...
and
Trying to figure out why it suddenly means nothing to me.

Should I be concerned.....or is this normal when you
Simply have too much?

I dunno.

  1. Hi Jana,
I think that in time we are ready to let go of things that we have loved in the past. It's not that we still don't love them and find them beautiful it's just that it's time to let someone else enjoy them. This is how antiques and vintage pieces are passed on. We own something of beauty for awhile and then we let it go into the hands of someone else. And if they love it, care for it and appreciate it then it will go on to the next caretaker.
I find that I have been doing the same thing and I haven't given much thought as to why it doesn't bother me. I guess it's because I'm ready to let it go. Hope this makes sense.

Anyway, feel good about it and move on to something else to love and cherish.

    hugs
    Sissie

  2. Jana- I have done the same thing. I think, for me, it was reaching a certain age and realizing that I didn't need so many things. That things no longer gave me the deep pleasure they did when I acquired them. Good for you- You will feel a sense of freedom once the stuff is gone. I know I did. I have not regretted a single thing I gave up. xo Diana

  3. Bravo to you for managing to let go! I think it is a new beginning when you realize certain thing don't hold the appeal they once did and it is time to let go so you can make room for the next great thing!

  4. This post really hit home. I am going thru the same thing, experiencing the same feelings. I have purged some very beautiful rose covered china that I have had and loved for years - even my husband was shocked that I could let go of it so easily. I just felt that I no longer needed it, and that I have so much of it, and really, just how many creamers, plates, teapots, shakers and cups does one need? As I have gotten older, I really feel the need to purge & feel so much better letting go of my many possessions.
